Established in 1981 by Gaston Tardif and Gaétane Plamondon, Tardif Diesel has been the reference in heavy duty trucks repair and maintenance in the Sherbrooke region for almost 40 years. Located in Ascot Corner in the Eastern Townships, the company has built a solid reputation for trucks service and parts. In addition to maintaining a complete parts inventory for all major brands of trucks, Tardif Diesel offers trucks and trailers repair and maintenance services both in their state of the art facilities and on the road, with two mobile units on duty 24/7. The company is also a certified repair, maintenance and warranty center for Detroit Diesel, Cummins and Caterpillar engines, as well as for Detroit, Eaton and Allison transmissions. Since 2012, Tardif Diesel is an official sales, parts and service dealer for Western Star and Freightliner trucks for the Eastern Townships.
In 1997, the founders of the company made room for the new generation. Jean-Marc and Gabriel Tardif, sons of Gaston and Gaétane, became that year members of the managing team and shareholders of Tardif Diesel.

1981 – Holding a mechanic diploma and specialized in heavy trucks and equipment mechanic, Gaston Tardif founds Tardif Diesel with his spouse, Gaétane Plamondon. The company offers maintenance and repair services for heavy-duty trucks, directly at the clients’ facilities.
1993 – Tardif Diesel opens its first fixed workshop, located on Galt street East, in Sherbrooke. This milestone also marks the hiring of the first two staff mechanics to help Gaston and Gaétane.
1994 – Tardif Diesel acquires a machine shop and adds truck parts sales to its offering, to better meet the needs of its growing clientele. The next year, the company becomes the first in Canada to install and use a fully electronic test bench.
1996 – Tardif Diesel makes a major step, and becomes an official Parts and Service dealer for Freightliner medium and heavy-duty trucks. The same year, the company earns its certifications for Detroit, Cummins and Caterpillar engine repair, as well as for Allison automatic transmissions.
1997 – Here comes the next generation. Gaston and Gaétane’s two sons, Jean-Marc and Gabriel, as well as a long-time employee, Patrick Roy, become shareholders of Tardif Diesel. The two founders pass on their business philosophy to this next generation, which holds customer service as top priority.
1999 – Another milestone for Tardif Diesel; the company acquires a piece of land bordering route 112 in Ascot Corner, in a corridor particularly active for transportation, a few steps from highway 610. On this rocky lot, they build the actual facilities of Tardif Diesel.
2009 – On top of Freightliner’s banner, Tardif Diesel becomes a Parts and Service dealership for Daimler Trucks of North America’s two other brands, Western Star and Sterling.
2011 –Tardif Diesel must now make room for its continuous growth. The company proceeds to a major expansion of its facilities, adding 9 service bays for a total of 15.
2012 – This year marks a major step in the company’s evolution. Tardif Diesel officially becomes a Western Star and Freightliner truck sales dealership. The Western Star brands becomes a flagship for the company, its trucks responding perfectly to the needs of carriers and businesses in the area, thanks to their renown toughness and their tailored design and construction. Since then, new and used trucks sales have become an important part of Tardif Diesel’s portfolio.
2018 - mportant milestone for Tardif Diesel ; the generational transfer is now completed. The two founders, Gaston and Gaétane, have passed the torch to their sons, Jean-Marc and Gabriel, who are now respectively President and Vice-President of Tardif Diesel and sole shareholders.
